On Friday, October 27th, 2023, the Laurie M. Tisch Food Center for Food Education and Policy hosted the Food Education Grant Fair, bringing together 60 public schools and 40 nutrition education providers from across New York City. The grant fair, a partnership between the Tisch Food Center, NYC Public Schools, and the Mayor's Office of Food Policy, provided a platform to forge new connections and partnerships between NYC public schools and nutrition education providers.

Each school in attendance received a $11,000 grant from the NYC Public Schools Office of Food and Climate Education. This significant investment in school meals, gardening, cooking, and nutrition education reflects the growing focus on developing healthy eating habits from a young age.

The event was an overwhelming success as school representatives and nutrition education providers discussed ways for future partnerships to ultimately improve the lives of young New Yorkers. A huge shoutout to all those who helped plan, organize, and execute the event, and an extra special shoutout to Oliver Gonzalez-Yoakum and Ziying Zhang for their help in making the day a success!

We are excited to see how these diverse nutrition education providers will contribute their expertise to local public schools and look forward to future partnerships with NYC Public Schools and the Mayor's Office of Food Policy!
